[15:03:18] [I have joined #xf-bod]
[15:04:02] <mfilion> o/
[15:04:22] <Lyude> Hi everyone, time for roll call - hwentlan, keithp and danvet_ and mdnavare already said hi
[15:05:03] <mfilion> :'(
[15:05:08] <Lyude> and mfilion :P
[15:05:13] <mfilion> hihi
[15:05:22] <Lyude> i think we've got more then enough quorum so we can continue
[15:05:54] <Lyude> So our agenda for today: X.org/freedesktop.org domain status, requesting ledger data, XDC2020 invoices status, cloud hosting for freedesktop.org, XDC2021, XDC2022, XDC2022 sponsors, HDMI 2.1, elections, mailing list footer changes, changing default branch name on gitlab
[15:06:09] <Lyude> keithp: were you able to get around to sending out an email about the domain stuff?
[15:06:25] <keithp> Lyude: oddly, I've been busy with other things ...
[15:06:52] <danvet_> Lyude, some fd.o topics: gse->packet migration is completed, making m-l more dkim friendly and accelerating the s/master/main/ switch in gitlab
[15:06:59] <anholt> here now
[15:07:05] <danvet_> last two need a quick vote from us
[15:07:12] <Lyude> anholt: all of those are on the agenda :P (also thanks for reminding me it's called dkim)
[15:07:16] <Lyude> oops, *danvet_
[15:07:20] <Lyude> and hey anholt
[15:07:31] <danvet_> oh sorry didn't spot them
[15:07:33] * danvet_ blind
[15:07:33] <Lyude> keithp: I can try to send an email out next week then
[15:07:35] <Lyude> hehe, np
[15:08:21] <Lyude> anyway-so for requesting ledger data: No updates, I will poke again today myself
[15:08:49] <mfilion> just a stat update, tweet has reached 135,000 views, and we have 100 new followers this week alone... :)
[15:08:51] <Lyude> Cloud hosting for freedesktop.org: like danvet_ mentioned the gse->packet migration is completed, saving us around $30 a day - thanks fdo admins!
[15:09:11] <Lyude> mfilion: that's awesome tbh
[15:09:15] <danvet_> yeah huge thanks to bentiss and team on this
[15:09:30] <keithp> infra is hard; big props
[15:09:41] <mfilion> Lyude: really blown away by these numbers lol
[15:10:10] <Lyude> Also samuelig is going to be a bit late to this meeting and they gave me their update summaries: for XDC2021: mupuf together with freedesktop.org sysadmins have been working on details of the website. In his words, they are pretty close to putting it online. once we have it, we will contact organizers to start filling it, write the CFP announcement draft and start the thing for real
[15:10:27] <mfilion> nice
[15:10:50] <Lyude> mfilion: yeah it's kind of wild how many people know about the FSF stuff
[15:10:57] <Lyude> also for XDC2022: no updates
[15:11:14] <Lyude> hwentlan: are you around for HDMI 2.1 updates and election updates?
[15:11:20] <hwentlan> yes
[15:11:23] <danvet_> Lyude, xdc21 sponsors: I'm still burried alive :-(
[15:11:36] <danvet_> but will take vacations next week and hopefully when I'm back things will be more reasonable
[15:11:38] <hwentlan> HDMI 2.1 update: I finally reworked my email and just sent the v2 to the board. please take a look
[15:11:55] <hwentlan> elections are under way
[15:12:03] <Lyude> (to confirm, I do see your v2 in my email :)
[15:12:09] <hwentlan> we have 52% turnout so far
[15:12:26] <hwentlan> i'll send a reminder on monday to get the stragglers
[15:12:27] <mdnavare> hwentlan: Yes me too i see it
[15:12:40] <hwentlan> glad my email got through :)
[15:12:44] <mfilion> hwentlan I'll post a reminder on twitter when you do
[15:12:48] <Lyude> (btw mdnavare check your PMs)
[15:12:59] <samuelig> hi o/
[15:13:54] <Lyude> mdnavare: any updates on XDC2020 sponsor invoices? (also if I should remove this item from the agenda let me know, I can't remember if we've finished up with this or not)
[15:14:25] <mdnavare> Lyude: Yes Only Intel pending as usual
[15:14:42] <Lyude> gotcha
[15:14:53] <mfilion> sigh
[15:15:01] <mdnavare> Lyude: But my direct manager now has the PO approval and she has so now SPI should be able to get the invoice paid quickly
[15:15:07] <Lyude> oh awesome
[15:15:45] <mdnavare> Lyude: It came to her as an expense to be approved for me of 10K lol
[15:16:01] <mdnavare> Lyude: and then I had to explain that it was for XDC sponsorship
[15:16:49] <Lyude> next item on the list: mailing list footers and making things more dkim friendly. As y'all are probably aware we've been having recurring issues with gmail filtering out our messages as spam, and it turns out this likely has to do with the mailing list header that we insert into all of the messages that we relay which breaks the DKIM on messages
[15:16:55] <Lyude> mdnavare: ahhh, that explains a lot lol
[15:17:36] <Lyude> so on the gmail stuff - the solution we're looking at is for the fdo admins to modify the mailing lists so they stop modifying the emails going through, which should hopefully fix the spam issues. we need to have a vote to approve this
[15:18:06] <Lyude> mdnavare, mfilion, danvet_, hwentlan, anholt, keithp, samuelig - whenever y'all are ready. my vote is +1
[15:18:24] <mfilion> very much +1
[15:18:29] <hwentlan> i don't know if we technically need a vote but there was some concern that the footer was a requirement to comply with CAN-SPAM legislation, which is why i think it'd be prudent to vote on it
[15:18:30] <danvet_> only downside is that the unsubscribe link is gone, but I think the gmail button for unsubscribe still works
[15:18:31] <keithp> oh yeah, +1
[15:18:32] <danvet_> +1
[15:18:58] <samuelig> +1
[15:19:17] <anholt> +1. if it turns out this gets in the way of can-spam, then we probably need to transition off of mailing lists.
[15:19:17] <danvet_> hwentlan, yeah I think if you hit "mark spam" in gmail it'll auto-unsubscribe for you
[15:19:18] <hwentlan> but supposedly the "list-unsubscribe" is best practice to fulfill CAN-SPAM so we shouldn't need the footer
[15:19:20] <danvet_> or well, offer that
[15:19:23] <hwentlan> +1 from me
[15:19:25] <danvet_> yeah
[15:19:56] <Lyude> alright-approved!
[15:20:26] <daniels> there's no hard-and-fast to CAN-SPAM, that was just my interpretation of it. I've told emersion that if he thinks differently then he should feel very free to act because I'm not going to be blocking any attempts to improve our dire email situation.
[15:21:26] <Lyude> The last item we've got is regarding the default branch name that's being used on our gitlab instance. bentiss was wondering if the board would be interested in changing the default branch names from master to main. mdnavare, mfilion, danvet_, hwentlan, anholt, keithp, samuelig, we need another vote on this one. It's a +1 from me (also, hope y'all don't mind he highlighting you when
[15:21:28] <Lyude> votes are happening :P, figured it'd help get people's attention)
[15:21:41] <danvet_> +1
[15:21:42] <anholt> +1
[15:21:44] <keithp> +1
[15:21:47] <samuelig> +1
[15:21:57] <hwentlan> +1
[15:22:07] <anholt> (also, I love the highlights for votes)
[15:22:07] <Lyude> alright - that's approved then! I'll let bentiss know :)
[15:22:07] <danvet_> reminds me that I need to get unstuck and do an s/drm_master/drm_owner/ across our compositor stack since that one just annoys me
[15:22:20] <keithp> I assume this isn't binding on any fd.o project, just a 'sense of the board'?
[15:22:24] <keithp> (should have asked before voting)
[15:22:42] <mfilion> +1
[15:22:43] <Lyude> keithp: yeah - it's mostly just about the defaults we have on gitlab iirc
[15:22:47] <danvet_> keithp, yeah it's just accelerating it by switching the default now instead of waiting for gitlab 14 release
[15:22:58] <keithp> all good
[15:23:09] <danvet_> I think bentiss sent a mail to board@ with details
[15:23:12] <keithp> I've manually changed a bunch of my own projects; having gitlab support would be nice
[15:23:34] <anholt> defaults on gitlab was my interpretation. I think that, for example, changing branch name on existing xorg projects would be just whoever has the time to do it.
[15:24:02] <anholt> also note for anyone with projects with MRs, jljusten has a script that retargets your MRs to the new branch name, see discussion on mesa and piglit lists
[15:24:10] <keithp> very fancy
[15:24:23] <danvet_> maybe we should have a link to that in the minutes?
[15:24:34] <danvet_> if someone has that handy
[15:24:37] <anholt> looking
[15:25:05] <mdnavare> +1
[15:26:04] <samuelig> Lyude, about the script to retarget MR -> https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2021-March/225006.html
[15:26:27] <daniels> better link https://gitlab.com/jljusten/src-fdo/-/blob/master/gitlab-retarget-mr.py
[15:26:43] <Lyude> cool! I will make sure to include this in the meeting minutes
[15:26:51] <Lyude> also - that's it for the meeting everyone, thanks for joining!
[15:27:05] <samuelig> thanks!
[15:27:11] <danvet_> awesome, time to assemeble that apple tart then
[15:27:32] <keithp> danvet_: yum!
[15:27:54] <keithp> (not really apple season in the northern hemisphere, is it?)
[15:28:46] <danvet_> hm I do like them as a autumn/winter thing
[15:28:57] <danvet_> ofc they're year round now with modern storage
[15:29:45] <hwentlan> most apples store fine throughout the winter in a cool cellar (if you have that luxury)
[15:30:22] <danvet_> yeah, so even without modern storage perfectly fine in winter
[15:30:26] <mfilion> you're making me hungry lol
[15:30:29] <danvet_> or pears also nice
[15:31:01] <danvet_> spring is rhubarb, then apricots
[15:31:19] <danvet_> summer currants (I think they're called, groseilles in french)
[15:31:24] <danvet_> then plums
[15:31:34] <mfilion> so are we going to vote on which pie is best?
[15:31:37] <danvet_> gets you through the year back to apples and stuff in autumn
[15:31:38] <mfilion> :p
